Series

I've learned that adjusting the white balance, and the exposure can make all of the difference between an average picture, and a high quality picture. An I've also learned that photoshop is a great tool to improve the quality pictures even more! My definition of fine art photography is all about meaning.

What I mean is that if you take a rondom picture of a dog, that picture really doesn't have a deep meaning and/or purpose. But a picture that is inspirational, and has a deep meaning, is a great picture. If it takes you more than five minutes to figure out the meaning/purpose of the painting, the photographer who took it was succesful in creating "fine art photograpghy.

My goals in the future of photography are to take high quality indoor pictures of things like museum exibits, car shows, etc.

Artist Statement:
The picures of the doors are showing how doors are key to decision making. If you have a job interview, you pause at the door, deciding on what you want to say to your possible employer. Stopping at the door of your possible new car, deciding whether this is the car for you.

The picture of the chair is creating suspense.

Think of it as the chair outside of the principal's office. Imagine your self sitting there: "you're nervous, not knowing why the principal wants to see you, you're trying to think of any bad thing that you did, coming up with excuses for why you did that thing, each second seems like a minute."

I made the rest of the picture black & white, be selecting it, and changing the saturation.

The yellow folder creates anxiety.It pops out to you saying, "Remember me? Apparently you forgot. Oh, by the way, I'm due today!"

Imagine the folder contains the major assignment that's worth 100 summative points, you either completley forgot about it, or you put it off until the last possible second. You work as fast as you can, but time goes even faster, you got 5 out of 20 pages done, and your study hall ends in five minutes. Your hands are shaking, because this assignment can make or brake your grade.

I selected everything but the folder, and lowered the saturation to make it B&W.

This picture is to make you want a drink, to desire a drink.

You want to drink this juice, right? Its so tantilizing, your mouth is as dry as sawdust. You lick your lips, imagining the tase of the cool crisp juice going down your throught. AAAHHH! The white background makes you want the drink even more. Cool red juice, the perfect refreshment.

I cropped the picture to really show the juice the picture even more. But, its not dead center, you have to look to the side. (rule of thirds.

How I emulated Goldsworthy

I emulated Andy Goldsworthy by putting things into a circle pattern, like the leaves and coins. If you look closely at the leaf picture, you can see how the shades of green vary. I accomplished this by turning the leafs over, thus resluting in the light green color you see in two of the circles.
